Marcelle Hanselaar

I spent 3 months in total isolation in my London studio. The world came to a halt and without the usual social distractions or obligations my sense of time melted into an inescapable sense of now. Partly I think as an instinctive way of survival of a sense of the self I became very creative and these drawings are like a diary of that time. I would rip up my old lithographic proofs and then extended those scraps of collage with pencil drawing in order to reconstruct a new face, a new identity.
