During Lockdown my work has assumed a new intensity as a result of the physical and mental isolation. I work from a studio in a small London garden and there has been an eerie sense of quiet, punctured only by bursts of birdsong. The children in the next door school have not been in the playground. Aeroplanes have largely been missing from the sky. Longer periods of time forced me to dig deep within myself and come up with new ways of approaching an abstract painting process that relies on spontaneity, intuition and a sense of emotional connectedness.
