Oona Grimes

I drew myself through Lockdown. An enforced period of inner reflection, the HB pencil was my way to make sense of things. Redirecting the beginnings of a storyboard for a never -to -be -made film into a series of animations. I was re-visiting misremembered films from my childhood like the films of the Italian Neorealists exploring abusive relationships, power and poverty. ‘Murd’ is about two characters who have fallen through the cracks, the disaffected and the marginalised. Plus a one day shoot for a Lockdown film. An improvised ghost ascending through the house: ‘the mighty dead ...woo woo’.
